Vaccination against coronavirus with Sputnik Light vaccine at Euromed Clinic
Mass vaccination against the new coronavirus infection still goes on worldwide, and Russia is no exception. Euromed Clinic staff has been vaccinating people against COVID-19 since the beginning of 2021 and the amount of those wishing to be vaccinated has been growing ever since on a daily basis.
To date, there are more than 2000 patients vaccinated at our clinic. We are working to ensure that our patients have the opportunity to choose the most appropriate vaccine for them, and now we can offer “Sputnik V” and “Sputnik Light”.
Sputnik Light is a one-component vaccine against COVID-19 produced on the basis of the human adenovirus which carries the genetic information of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
In fact, Sputnik Light is the first component of Sputnik V, the world’s first registered vaccine against COVID-19.

👉🏻 Let’s see what is the difference between Sputnik Light and other vaccines, whether this drug can be used by those who have had coronavirus, and also let’s find answers to other pressing questions.
Efficiency and effect of Sputnik Light vaccine
According to the developer of the vaccine, the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Honorary Academician N.F. Gamaleya, the vaccine efficiency is about 80%. This is higher than for a number of two-component vaccines. The strongest immune response (antibody rate) forms in 28 days.
The data on Sputnik Light effectiveness was collected on the basis of information on the patients who received only the first component of Sputnik V and due to various reasons were not given the second shot.
Information on the I and the II phase of clinical trials is published on the developer’s information resources. The III trials phase of Sputnik Light is expected to end in January 2022.
Who can be vaccinated with Sputnik Light vaccine?
Now vaccination with Sputnik Light is allowed for people from 18 to 60. The list of recommendations and contraindications practically coincides with the use instructions for Sputnik V.
The drug is prohibited to use for those patients who have a history of severe allergic reactions, hypersensitivity to any of the vaccine components, as well as in case of an illness in the acute stage (otherwise the patient will be exempt from vaccination for 2-4 weeks).
Pregnancy and breastfeeding are also indicated as contraindications in the instructions for the drug, while in July the Ministry of Health announced that pregnant women can be vaccinated with Sputnik V when the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. It was not specified whether there would be similar recommendations for Sputnik Light vaccine.
Does Sputnik Light have any side effects?
Among the most common side effects the following symptoms are noted: pain at the injection site, a general feeling of being unwell, weakness, fever, headache, pain and aches in the joints. Sometimes patients complained of sore throat, nasal congestion, dizziness, nausea, and dyspepsia.
Currently there is no reliable information on serious side effects, including severe allergic reactions.
Revaccination against coronavirus with Sputnik Light
When the vaccine release was announced a lot of people began to wonder whether it is possible to be vaccinated with Sputnik Light for the first time, because it is more convenient since only 1 injection of the drug is required to form the immunity.
However, vaccine developers and representatives of the Ministry of Health note that the two-component vaccine is more effective (more than 90% effectiveness against about 80% for the one-component vaccine) and that it protects against COVID-19 better.

Sputnik Light is recommended to be used for re-vaccination and for vaccination of those who have had coronavirus.
According to the latest recommendations of the Ministry of Health, revaccination can be performed 6 months after vaccination or after a coronavirus infection.
Therefore, the question “Is it possible for those who have had coronavirus to be vaccinated with Sputnik Light?” is answered as follows: yes, if there are no contraindications.
How does Sputnik Light differ from other vaccines?
Despite the fact that all coronavirus vaccines were developed with one purpose of prevention COVID-19, the technology for creating vaccines is different. In this article we will touch upon those differences briefly.
What is the difference between Sputnik Light and Sputnik V?
Sputnik Light is a one-component version of Sputnik V. Sputnik Light also includes SARS-Cov-2 S-protein, but only it is based on adenovirus type 26. This is the first component of Sputnik V.
What is the difference between Sputnik Lite and EpiVacCorona?
Sputnik Lite is a one-component vector vaccine, and EpiVacCorona is a peptide vaccine that does not contain a biological agent (virus) and is developed on the basis of artificially synthesized SARS Cov-2 proteins. EpiVacCorona is administered twice with an interval of 14-21 days.
What is the difference between Sputnik Light and CoviVac?
CoviVac is an inactivated two-component vaccine against COVID-19, which contains the whole Sars-Cov-2 virus, processed using a special technology in such a way that it is devoid of infectious properties, but at the same time it is able to induce an immune response in the body.
Can a foreign citizen be vaccinated with Sputnik Light?
Yes, sure!
Sputnik Light is a one-component vaccine and requires only one injection to form immunity and obtain all the necessary documents.
This is convenient for those who come to Russia for a limited time period and cannot wait 21 days (such an interval between injections is necessary for vaccination against coronavirus with the majority of the available drugs).
